Hello everyone, my name is Ali and I am so excited to join the Form & Practice team.
I have been a private practice Physiotherapist since I graduated 15 years ago. I love the diversity, challenge and rapport building that comes with my work.
Originally a Kiwi (don’t hold that against me!) I migrated across the Tasman in 2013. Since that time, I have lived within the inner suburbs of Melbourne. My husband, Andrew, and I both grew up regionally and wanted to give our girls an upbringing with more space, fresh air and accessibility to nature. Claudia (4), Georgina (2) and Maggie the pup (10) are all very excited about our move to the East.
Clinically, I have a number of areas of interest and expertise. My passion lies within Pelvic Health Physiotherapy (female only). Having had my own journey with pelvic floor dysfunction and recent pelvic floor surgery, I know first hand just how transformative Pelvic Health Physiotherapy can be.
These benefits are seen within the management/alleviation of symptoms and regaining a person’s quality of life. I get so much joy out of helping women at all stages of life with pelvic dysfunction (pain, stress incontinence, symptoms of perimenopause/menopause, overactive bladder, prolapse and sexual dysfunction). I am a volunteer for PANDA (Perinatal Anxiety and Depression Australia) and as part of this, I endeavour to help improve the ease with which we approach mental health conversations as Physiotherapists. This includes breaking down the stigma and shame that can come with experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction.
I am a keen runner and love helping others enjoy the benefits of this great sport. Whether it’s recovering from an injury, wanting to complete your first 5km, tick off an ultra marathon or achieve that first postpartum run, I am here to guide and support you.
I completed my vestibular training in 2018 and have been treating BPPV (postural dizziness) patients since this time.
As with all general Physiotherapists, I am qualified to treat spinal pain/injuries, headaches, jaw pain, joint injuries and those either preparing for or recovering from musculoskeletal surgeries (joint replacements, tendon/ligament repairs, surgical fixation etc).
I look forward to helping you achieve your health and wellbeing goals.
