Did you know, there are 13 recognised types of headaches with over 300 subtypes, each classified by their underlying cause and symptoms. Classifying a headache can be difficult, but treating it doesn’t have to be (International Headache Society).
Common headaches usually occur as a result of imbalances such as misalignment of the spine, hormonal imbalances, muscular tension and muscle imbalance in the body. These imbalances are usually triggered by poor posture, fatigue, overwork/overuse, poor sleeping habits, stress, injury and poor ergonomics.
Does your headache begin as tightness or pain in the shoulders, neck and base of the skull, radiating into the forehead, eye, or temple? If so, Myotherapy can help.
Myotherapists identify the origin/cause (such as muscles, nerves, tissues, joints, tendons, and fascia) of the headache through physical examination and assessment of different body functions. We then use the most appropriate techniques from any one or a combination of the following to reduce and prevent the occurrence of your headaches or migraines:
- Cupping
- Dry Needling
- Soft Tissue Manipulation
- Joint mobilization
- Trigger point therapy
- Thermal Therapy-Infrared heat lamp
- Myofascial Release
- Corrective Exercises/stretches
